How It Works

From instrument to HIS in 4 steps

Everything happens automatically. Your team does not need to touch a thing after setup.

01
Connect your instrument

Plug in via RS-232 serial or point it at LISBridge over TCP/IP. Auto-detection identifies your instrument and loads the right settings. No configuration file, no IT ticket.

02
LISBridge reads the data

Every result message coming off the instrument is received, buffered, and handed to the parser. The right parser loads automatically — ASTM, HL7, or instrument-specific format.

03
Results are validated

LISBridge checks that each message is complete and correctly structured before it moves anywhere. Incomplete or duplicate transmissions are caught here — bad data never reaches your HIS.

04
Clean data reaches your HIS

Structured, validated results are forwarded to your Hospital Information System or LIMS automatically. Every result is also stored locally for your records.

Supported Instruments

35 instruments, ready on day one

No extra configuration, no model-specific licence. If your instrument is listed, it works out of the box.

Built for Labs

Everything a lab needs. Nothing it doesn't.

Built specifically for clinical laboratory environments — where uptime and accuracy are non-negotiable.

🔌
RS-232 & TCP/IP
Connect legacy serial instruments and modern network analyzers from the same installation — no hardware changes needed.
📋
ASTM E1394 & HL7
Both standard lab protocols supported out of the box. Instrument-specific formats (COBAS, VIDAS, Dimension) handled automatically.
♻️
Silent parser updates
New instrument support and fixes deploy automatically in the background every 15 minutes. No restart, no action needed from you.
🛡️
Works offline
Device-based licensing runs locally. Once activated, LISBridge keeps working through internet outages — no disruption to your lab.
🔒
Encrypted & access-controlled
Licence keys are encrypted on the device. Network access can be locked to trusted IP ranges only, blocking unauthorised connections.
🔄
Auto-reconnects
If a connection drops, LISBridge re-establishes it automatically. Connections also restore on their own when the app restarts.
📥
Order pull from your HIS/HMS
LISBridge polls your HIS or HMS for pending test orders and dispatches them to the analyser that runs them. The connection is outbound only — there is no inbound port to open, no firewall exception, and no DMZ placement to negotiate with hospital IT. Set the endpoint, the pull token, and the polling interval, and the loop runs unattended.
🗂️
Every pulled order is kept
Each payload fetched from the HIS is stored and indexed locally, so weeks later you can show exactly what was received and when — not just a log line saying something arrived.
Self-Service Mapping

Map any analyser field to any LIS field yourself

This is the part of an integration that usually turns into a support ticket. Your analyser reports a parameter under one name, your LIS expects another, and somewhere a developer has to be scheduled to reconcile the two. In LISBridge it is a screen. You define the parameter, you point it at the field, and it applies from the next result onward.

01
Define the parameter

Create a custom parameter for anything your analyser reports that does not already have a home — a calculated ratio, a vendor-specific flag, a research channel your LIS has never seen.

02
Point it at the LIS field

Map the analyser's own label to the field name your LIS expects. Your Mindray calls it WBC-B, your LIS calls it something else — you connect the two in the interface and it stays connected.

03
It applies from the next result

No rebuild, no redeploy, no support ticket, no waiting for a vendor release window. The next frame the instrument sends is delivered under the name your LIS already uses.

🧩

Nothing is thrown away. The raw ASTM or HL7 frame that produced each result is stored alongside it, so a mapping decision can always be checked against what the instrument actually sent. More on that on the data parsing page.
